Atlantic herring is valued for its dense and fatty meat with a pleasant taste. The Atlantic inhabitant differs in appearance from its Pacific relative by the presence of pronounced keel scales on the belly. Herring is ideal for pickling and frying.

When lightly salted, its meat turns out incredibly tasty and tender. Fish is also smoked, stewed, baked and canned. They also make the classic “Herring under a fur coat” and mincemeat with it. Atlantic herring meat contains vitamins, iron, zinc, sodium and other beneficial substances. Its use can improve cerebral circulation, strengthen heart health and normalize hemoglobin levels.
